Today in New Delhi a session where  students as young as five walked barefoot on shards of glass and smoldering coal. The school called it meditation Kalpesh Patel, director of the River dale Academy school in the Western Indian town of Surat said the students’ parents had given their consent for their childrens participation in the fire-and-glass walk aimed at boosting confidence levels. “No one was injured and no one felt any pain” said Kalpesh Patel even though his own child was among the 80 participants.  And that’s what happened today in New Delhi, India.

Today in India  India has signed onto a U.N. climate change agreement aimed at reducing global greenhouse gas emissions becoming one of the last major nations to do so, the country’s environment minister told parliament. As Asia’s third largest economy the country has set a goal of reducing carbon emissions 20 to 25 percent by 2020. The goal is based on 2005 levels. And many children are sad because they dont know if the next generation of children will ever see trees, birds, and animals. So thats what happened in New Delhi India, India.

Today in India India’s upper house of parliament has passed a historic bill , aimed at reserving one third of seats for women in federal and state legislatures. Tuesday’s debate and voting followed a day of drama in the Indian parliament, over the legislation which had been stuck for almost 15 years. The country has a female president Pratibha Devisingh Patil who in 2007 became the first woman elected to the post. So now the legislatures in India have to be girls. Today in India their government apologizes for and advertisement that made and showed to others. This advertisement was for female children, that showed a former Pakistani air force chief. The full-page newspaper advertisement in the Sunday Times of India was put out by India’s woman and child development ministry to mark National Girl-Child Day. Down pours and heavy flooding have killed six people in the Sinai peninsula and nine others in Aswan in some of the worst storms in over a decade. Rain fell and lightening flashed across Egypt on Sunday, and more than 40 homes and 57 electrical towers have collapsed in cities and villages. it was very bad what happened in egypt and now it is kind of happening in California. Today in Egypt a man was making gas out of garbage. This mans name is Soliman. This man has two solar panels on top of the apartment he lives in. He said that “my gas and electricity bills are much less than before.” They shaved nearly 50 percent off the utility bills. Soliman ventured into clean energy in 2008 when he joined Solar CITIES (Connecting Community Catalysts and Integrating Technologies for Industrial Ecology Systems), a development initiative spearheaded by U.S. urban planner Thomas Culhane.

On 12/12/09 there was a mud slide that hit Hollywood Hills neighborhood and they had to evacuate all the homes. Department of Public Works spokesman Gary Boze says that sheriff’s deputies on Saturday night were helping people to leave 36 homes in La Canada Flintridge, six in La Crescenta and two in the Big Tujunga area. Now these people are in a shelter where they are safe.
